Pipeline explosion in Ukraine interrupts flow of Russian gas to Europe

The flow of Russian gas to Europe has been suspended after explosion hit the Urengoy-Pomara-Uzhgorod pipline section near the village of Luka in the Kiev region, the Ukraine's Ministry for Emergencies said.
It is still unclear what could have caused the explosion.

According to emergency workers, around 30 meters of the pipe (diameter 1400 mm) have been totally destoyed. The blaze that followed the explosion has been localized, according to Interfax.
