Pavel Prakapovich standing trial for commemoration of Dzmitry Zavadzki

Pavel Prakapovich lit candles and placed the portrait of Dzmitry Zavadzki in Yakub Kolas Square in Minsk at 6 p.m. At that moment, policemen came out of the metro station and detained Pavel. The action was held in the framework of the campaign "We Won't Forget" and was dedicated to the 13th anniversary since kidnapping and disappearance of the journalist, notes the BCD press-office.


Pavel Prakapovich is standing trial in the Soviet district court of Minsk.

We remind, a cameraman, member of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Dzmitry Zavadzki disappeared in Belarus on July 7, 2000. He was 27. In 1994-1997 Zavadzki worked in Alyaksandr Lukashenka's pool as a cameraman. Since January 1997, he left for the Civil Russian Television, worked with Pavel Sheremet.


In 2002, Minsk regional court considered a group headed by ex-special troop "Almaz" fighter Valery Ihnatovich guilty of kidnapping Dzmitry Zavadzki. Two members of this group, including Ihnatovich himself, were sentenced to life-time imprisonment. However, Dzmitry Zavadzki's body is still unfound.
