Parting with Ryhor Baradulin in Ushachy (photo)

The coffin was brought to Shkolnaya Street at first. The Baradulins moved there in 1939. The poet loved visiting the house. A mourning meeting was organized there – representatives of the public, authorities and the poet’s fellow-countrymen spoke. About a thousand people gathered to bid farewell to uncle Ryhor.

The procession headed for the cemetery after the meeting. A Uniate mass was served by archimandrite Syarhei Hayek there. The poet was buried near his mother’s grave. He loved his mother very much and wanted to be buried beside her.

Ryhor Baradulin died at the age of 79 on March 2. Hundreds of people came to bid farewell to the People’s Poet in Minsk.
