Over 300 prisoners at large after earthquake in Chile

Only 16 inmates have been found so far, information agencies report. Troops are heading for the area to prevent possible crimes and looting as many citizens have left the city for fear of tsunami.

An 8.2 magnitude earthquake hit the Chilean coast on the night of April 2 and caused a tsunami. The first wave hit Chile in the morning. It was over 2 metres high. It may result is serious destruction, experts say.

Five people were killed by the earthquake – 4 men and a woman, mass media report. Several people were injured.
