Opposition politician Mikalai Statkevich to be released today

Opposition politician Mikalai Statkevich is expected to be released on May 3. He was preventively detained on the afternoon of April 28 and jailed for 5 days. His wife Maryna Adamovich learnt it only a day later because the police would not give her any information about Statkevich’s whereabouts.
The politician had been going to organize an unauthorized action in Minsk on May 1. He was also preventively detained on the eve of Freedom Day. He spent a few days in KGB prison, the politician said.
