Opposition activists meet with lawmaker in Brest

Activists with pro-democracy parties in Brest met with Sviatlana Hil, a member of the House of Representatives.  The meeting was proposed by opposition members. The lawmaker agreed to meet on condition that she would face only five opponents and that the meeting would not last more than one hour.

The activists from the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) and the Party of Communists talked with Hil about socio-political and socio-economic issues in Brest and across the nation in general, reports Belapan.

The meeting proved that the opponents had "different points of view" on most of the issues discussed. The legislator said that the elections were not rigged and the dissent and the independent media were not harassed. However, she agreed to continue meeting with the oppositionists.
