Old fresco found in Varnyanski Catholic Church in Astravets District

It was under a layer of plaster, reports “Hrodna Pravda”. The church was closed in the Soviet time. Builders probably hid the valuable painting under a layer of plaster back then. Its author still has to be defined. Scientists and restorers are trying to find out when the fresco was created.  The priest of the church has invited them for further work there. According to preliminary information, St. Stanislaus Kostka who is considered to be a defender of the youth is depicted in the fresco.

The found fresco may be only one of the things that can be found in the old Catholic church built in 1760-1769.
