Official detained when accepting $30K bribe in Babruisk
The police in Babruisk on Monday detained Uladzimir Aleinik, the chief of the local nature and environment protection authority, when he was trying to receive $30,000 as a bribe for clearing a construction project from one of the local businessman. Apparently, the businessman tried to evade stringent environmental regulations for his development project. The office of the regional prosecutor has opened a criminal case into the matter.
