“The Natives” to be shown in November

The rumours that “The Natives” was folded in the Kupala Theatre have been refuted. An aide of the theatre’s art director Vadzim Dapkyunas informed ERB that the performance would be shown this autumn. “The Natives” was shown in July last time. The performance was dated for the 125th anniversary of Yanka Kupala. Even journalists were not allowed in the theatre at that time because the house was full. People were taking seats in turns. Even one of the actors, Aleh Harbuz, did not know what was to become of the performance.

Aleh Harbuz: “That performance was dated for the 125th anniversary of Kupala, that’s why it was shown. Probably it was the last time. But I am not sure. This performance is shown very rarely but they do show it sometimes. Maybe it will happen again, but it will be in autumn or winter”.

The house was sold out every time “The Natives” was shown because they kept telling: it may be the last time, and then it will be folded. Vadzim Dapkyunas assured ERB that the performance has not been folded.

Vadzim Dapkyunas: “The performance has not been folded. “The Natives” was shown when we organized a week of Kupala on the eve of his anniversary (I am talking about “The Dreams about Belarus” by Uladzimir Savitski). So, the audience will see it again in the new season”.

The Kupala Theatre will leave for the festival “Belaya Vezha” in Brest in September. October and the beginning of November will be occupied with “Panarama”. “The Natives” may be shown right after that, promised Dapkyunas. He also described the theatre’s plans for the new season.

Vadzim Dapkyunas: “We are rehearsing a Galdoni’s comedy “The Servant of Two Masters”. A Swedish producer Alyaksandr Nordshtrem has gathered practically all the stars of the Kupala Theatre in that performance: people’s artists of Belarus Arnold Pamazan, Mіkalai Kіrychenka, Honoured artist of the Republic of Belarus Victar Manaeu, Raman Padalyaka, Hanna Hіtryk, Yulіya Shpіleuskaya, Syarhei Chub and others. The first night is assigned for the end of December.

Rehearsals of “The Children of Vanyushyn” by Naidzenau will start in September. The producer is Alyaksandr Hartsueu. The art director of the theatre Valery Rayeuski is planning to stage a medieval detective story under a working title of “It happened 500 years ago”. An Alyaksandr Dudarau’s play by a Kastus Tarasau’s documentary story “The Black Way” will also be rehearsed.

UNESCO announced the next year to be the year of Dunin-Martsinkevich. The Kupala Theatre is going to stage his play “The Gentry of Pinsk”. Mikalai Pilihin, known for plays “Symon the Musician”, “Moth”, “”Idyll”, “ART” and “The Natives” will be its producer.
