Nadezhda Savchenko’s sentence will be pronounced on March 21-22. The date has been appointed by the court in Russian Donetsk.

Savchenko has made her last plea in court. She will not wait for the sentence and will continue her dry hunger strike even if the sentence is pronounced in more than one week, she said.

The Ukrainian went on hunger strike on March 4 when she was not allowed to make her last plea in court. People cannot survive for more than 7 days without water, her lawyer Nikolai Polozov said. The pilot has been on hunger strike for 5 days.

Savchenko: "The court has stolen a week of my life. You have another week now; I might still be alive then. If you want to demonstrate your power, you can do it. But remember that my life is at stake and I have nothing to lose. I will continue the dry hunger strike even if the sentence is pronounced later than in a week. I have said everything; I will not wait for the sentence. Thank you. I’d like to thank everyone for their support.”
