Murder of Yuliya Salamatsina: sentence to be announced today

Frunze District Court will pronounce its decision in the case of the murder of 18-year-old Yuliya Slamatsina at 11 a.m. today, on February 5.  The prosecution has asked to imprison 26-year-old Minsker Pavel Tsynyauski for 17 years and his 48-year-old mother – for 2 years.

Yuliya Salamatsina, 18, was born in Smalyavichy and worked in Minsk. The girl wanted to enter university. She got acquainted with a 26-year-old Minsker in social networks and decided to meet him on July 18, 2014. She did not return home after that. The Minsker strangled the girl with a belt after a quarrel. He and his mother hid the body in a city forest.

The hearing started in Minsk Frunzenski District Court on January 22. The defendant asked to pardon his mother in his last plea on February 2. The defence has asked to imprison him and his mother for 7 years and 12 months respectively. The accused are ready to refuse from their flat to compensate the moral damage the defence said.
