Minsk City Court remedies grievance of student expelled from Management Academy

Minsk City Court has remedied the grievance of Yury Aleinik, a 4th-year student expelled from the Management Academy of the President of the Republic of Belarus, and submitted the case for a new hearing. The decision of Kastrychnitski District Court of Minsk taken on July 5 was cancelled.
Let us remind you that the young man thinks he was excluded from the higher educational institution because of his civil activities: he is a member of a civil organization “Association of the Belarusian Language” and he also cooperates with the Belarusian Association of Journalists. Aleinik collected students’ signatures in protest of benefits cancellation in March and April. The order of expulsion said the reason for it was “systematic violation of the Academy’s discipline and schedule”.

Aleinik turned to Kastrychnitski District court on June 4. The court announced that the case about the expulsion of Aleinik was beyond its competence because “the Academy was within the President’s jurisdiction”. The young man sent an appeal to Minsk City Court on July 12.

The student is going to continue his studies at a course of instruction by correspondence at European Humanitarian University in Vilnius and in one of Russian universities until the decision about his reinstatement is taken. Y. Aleinik hopes his appeal will be satisfied: “I am going to pass all exams of the 4th year and graduate from the Management Academy no matter how much time it may take”, - he claimed.
