Ministry of Information suspends broadcasting ERB’s programme in “Autoradio”

The best informational and entertaining programme of the European Radio for Belarus created with the help of European parallels and made with the assistance of the European Commission has stopped being broadcasted by an FM radio station “Autoradio”. The reason for it was a warning pronounced by the Ministry of Information.
The Ministry of Information sent a written warning to the FM radio station “Autoradio” (105.1) for “the lack of correspondence to the broadcasting concept” on September 30. Officials had asked for audio files of the programme “EuroZOOM” “to monitor them” a bit before.

"EuroZOOM" — is a joint project of ERB and “Autoradio” realized under the aegis of the European Commission in the framework of the new policy of the European Union and Belarus. The programme used to be broadcasted daily starting from September 1. It is an hour programme constricting of news, reports and music and it is a high-quality product that was positively assessed by listeners of “Autoradio”.
The Ministry of Information warned “Autoradio” and ordered it to “make attempts to restore the correspondence to the its broadcasting concept” by October 1 and reminded about the possibility to annul its license. The radio station has sent a letter to the Ministry of information and asked to specify the problem (according to “the broadcasting concept”, “Autoradio” is allowed to produce both entertaining and information programmes). A copy of a letter about the support of the programme by executive bodies of the EC signed by the head of the representative office of the European Commission in Minsk Jean-Eric Holzapfel has been attached to it. A separate letter has been sent to the Minister of Information Uladzimir Rusakevich  - he has been asked to consider the possibility of broadcasting the programme in “Autoradio”.

The director general of “Euroradio” Yury Bazan notes that it has been decided to suspend the broadcasting of the programme not to risk the whole project until the Ministry of Information gives a reply.

ERB will continue informing about the situation. The programme “EuroZOOm” can still be listened to in ERB. Listen to it from Monday to Friday at 7 p.m. or 12 a.m. or on our website euroradio.fm
