Mikita Likhavid goes on hunger strike

"He said he started a hunger-strike as a protest against the sentence which he considered to be illegal and insisted it should be abolished. He demands that the witness who gave evidence against him should name those who made him lie in court. He also said that he felt much more free than the judge, the public prosecutor or the casualties", — Alena Likhavid has said to "Radio Liberty".

Let us remind you, on March 29 the judge of the Partyzanski district court of Minsk Natallia Pykina considered the 20-year-old activist of the movement "For Freedom!" Mikita Likhavid guilty in participation in mass disturbances on December 19 and convicted him to 3,5 years of imprisonment in the high-security correctional institution. Mikita Likhavid's relatives stated at once that he would appeal the sentence together with his lawyer.
