Makei’s deputy describes relations with Ukraine

Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Alyaksandr Mihnevich met students and teachers of Homel Francysk Skaryna State University on February 25. The Belarusian MFA has no special guidelines for covering the Ukrainian issue, the diplomat assured.

Mihnevich urged the present to watch the development of the situation and let Ukrainians figure out what was going on, BelaPAN reports.

A new government is being formed in Ukraine now. When the process is over and the new government presents its programme, the Belarusian MFA will be able to make a statement and express our country’s position. Belarusian diplomats worry about the economic cooperation most. “Our turnover was $7 billion. It has reduced a little due to the crisis but Ukraine is a great economic partner for us,” Mihnevich noted.

The present suggested that people wounded during the clashes in Kiev should be allowed to apply for medical assistance in Belarus. It should not be a problem, Mihnevich replied.
