Makei: We appreciate Vatican’s impartial position as regards Belarus

The Belarusian authorities appreciate the impartial position of the Vatican as regards Belarus, Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei told the Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.

The cardinal’s visit to Belarus testifies to the development of Belarus-Vatican cooperation, Makei said. “The Vatican is our special partner in the international relations and its approaches to solving the problems of the modern society are transparent for Belarusians,” the Minister claimed.

The visit to Belarus will let him get acquainted with our country and people better, Parolin said. Pope Francis has sent his best wishes to the Belarusian people, government and religious communities (especially to Catholics), he said. The Holy See is open in international relations and is hoping to develop Belarus–Vatican relations, he stressed.
