Makei: EU is interested in cancelling Belarus sanctions
Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei has given an exclusive interview to the TV channel Belarus 1. It was shown on the evening of October 18.
The head of Belarusian diplomats commented on the possible cancellation of the European sanctions imposed on a number of Belarusian officials and enterprises.
"Our European partners mentioned the possibility of cancelling the sanctions before and after the presidential election,” BelaPAN quotes Makei.
He mentioned the lack of prospects of the sanctions again and noted that the European Union was also interested in cancelling them: “We are interested in the cancellation of the sanctions. But we believe that the European Union and the whole Europe are interested in it in the first place.”
Makei called Belarus ‘a stability donor of the region’. Our country and the European Union are working together to solve such common problems as illegal migration, drug trafficking, international crime and safe transit of energy, he said.
