Lyabedzka: Boycott will turn UDF into dissident movement

The United Pro-Democracy Forces (UDF) should not only oppose the government but also seek a compromise, Anatol Lyabedzka, the leader of the United Civic Party, said Sunday during the meeting of UDF's Political Council.  Time has passed when democratic forces would need to speak out their principal position, opposing the government both inside the country and abroad, Lyabedzka said.

UCP leader believes that one should put forward "some constructive proposals" to the government. He shared his view that the decision to withdraw UDF candidates "will be wrong". Lyabedzka cautioned the audience that the boycott of elections would turn UDF into a dissident movement or even lead to its break-up.
