Lukashenka visits Minsk Cathedral and wishes peace to Ukraine (video)

Alyaksandr Lukashenka visited Minsk Cathedral on Orthodox Christmas Day, January 7. His youngest son Mikalai accompanied him.

The Belarusian President wished a Merry Christmas to all the present including the head of the Belarusian Orthodox Church (Metropolitan Pavel).

"Merry Christmas to Belarusians and all our friends, brothers and neighbours. I wish them peace. Peace is the most important for our southern neighbour [Ukraine]. We will do everything to bring peace and quietness to the hearts of people there,” BELTA quotes Lukashenka.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has already commented on peace in Ukraine many times this month.

The President thanked the Orthodox Church for peace and quiet in Belarus. “You can rely on the state and government. You can be sure that there will always be peace in our country. We can guarantee it,” Lukashenka said.

The Belarusian President lit a candle near the icon of Blessed Virgin Mary. He also presented a silver panel to the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
