Lukashenka slams government over lack of competence

Alexander Lukashenka demanded that the government stops misusing tax-payer money. Talking today at a meeting on the state subsidies to the organizations of the economy' s real sector, the president said that the government was trying to hide the lack of competence and poor performance using the state funds. Belarus will make critical changes in the policy associated with the state preferences in 2008, Lukashenka said. Different from Russia and other countries, the change of the system of state subsidies in Belarus did not become a shock therapy for enterprises. "Enterprises had more than 10 years in order to get used to new conditions," Lukashenka stated.

Besides, Lukashenka warned that he was set to demand soon for accounts from the government about slow growth of the Belarus's light industry.
