The Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has given all the necessary orders to the head of “Gazprom” in connection with the fact that the Belarusian leader has decided to suspend the transit of Russian gas across the territory of the country. According to RIA “Novosti”, the Russian President’s press secretary Nataliya Timakova has informed about it.

She has added that Medvedev had a phone talk with the head of “Gazprom” Aleksei Miller on Tuesday.

At the same time, it was decided not to wait for “Gazprom” to pay its debt for Russian gas transit with the help of Belarusian gas pipelines and a gas-main “Yamal-Europe” to European states.

Operative headquarters have been created in “Belenergo”, “Belpaliugaz” and “Beltransgaz”. The Ministry of Energy is coordinating them.

A number of Belarusian electric power stations are using reserve types of fuel at the moment. Natural gas supplies to industrial enterprises have been limited.
