Lukashenka orders to grow gold and currency reserves up to $3bn

President Lukashenka has ordered to grow the country's currency reserves up to $3 billion by the end of this year.
He said it in a statement following his meeting with Piotr Prakapovich, the chairman of the National Bank of Belarus. The head of the state had earlier demanded that this task be fulfilled by 2011. In the view of Lukashenka, this taget is necessary in oder to secure the stability of the country's financial system.

As of June 1, 2007, Belarus's gold and currency reserves amounted to $2, 224 million, $470 million up from the beginning of the year. Prakapovich assured the president that his order would be fulfilled in the mentioned period, reports Belta.
