Lukashenka appoints head of Territorial Defense

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has appointed Colonel Syarhei Dudko the head of the Territorial Defence, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus. The corresponding presidential decree was made public on March 24, BELTA reports.

On February 19, Alyaksandr Lukashenka visited the Ministry of Defence and met with management of the the Armed Forces personnel. He demanded that the so-called "partisans" be trained. "At the time of hostilities, God forbid, we'll have to draft people in the territorial army more than 100 thousand people. We need to train these people," said the head of state. He stressed that there is a need to constantly monitor the list of people, gather them for regular trainings, work on the functions, which they will carry out in time of war.
