Local elections: 513 members of political parties registered as candidates
513 representatives of political parties have been registered as candidates for the seats in local and regional councils during the upcoming polls, Mikalai Lazavik, an official representative of the Central Elections Commission, told BELTA news agency. Compared to the 2007 local polls, the number of registered candidates from political parties has gone up three times from 177 to 513 people. The spectrum of political parties is also wider this year -- 12 against 7 parties in 2007.
