Kudrin: Belarus should do more to enter WTO jointly

"I think that what Russia has achived with WTO will be for 90 percent transformed into a new agreement. Russia held talks on totally reasonable conditions, and we don't see problems for future negotiations", the Russian news agency Ria Novosti quoted Rusian Finance MinisterAndrei Kudrin as saying.

"Now, we will have consultations with WTO as the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia", the Russian minister said. At the same time, he noted that the mechanism of negotiations between the three countries is yet to be determined.

According to Kudrin, the procedure of founding the Customs Union will have been finalized by mid 2011, so it is premature to talk about the date of joining WTO.

When asked about a significant state regulation of economy in Belarus, Kudrin noted: "Perhaps, Bealrus will have to do more but I don't see big problems".

Prime ministers of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia signed an agreement to enter WTO as a single customs territory on June 9 in Moscow.
