Kerimov's lawyer says Lukashenka is not aware

Belarusian investigators on Tuesday charged Russian oligarch and senator Suleiam Kerimov with the power and office abuse. Anatoly Kucherena has called on Belarus president Aliaksandr Lukashenka to sort the whole situation over the Uralkali company out.

"Being a defense attorney, I believe that Aliaksandr Ryhoravich [Lukashenka] is simply unawar of what is going on around," the Russian news agency RIA Novosti as saying. "I do hope that after he sorts this situation out, he will punish those officials who dared."

Why does not Lukashenka comment on Baumgertner's arrest and Kerimov's case?

ЯSuleiman Kerimov зis a Russian Federation's senator and enjoys immunity. But the police in Belarus put hopes on Russia's Office of Prosecutor General, whom Belarus plans to send relevant documents in Uralkali case.

Belarus' Investigatory Committee stated that Uralkali head caused damage to Belarus'national interests. Baumgertner has been charged with office and power abuse. He is facing up to ten years in prison with property confiscation. The Investigatory Committee said the losses in the case of Belarusian Potassium Company (BPC) was estimated at $100 million. Baumgertner is held at KGB pre-trial detention center.
