Kastitsyn suffers head injury after brutal hit

Montreal Canadiens left wing Andrey Kastitsyn (Andrei Kostitsyn) left Saturday's 4-1 victory against the Phoenix Coyotes after a fearsome hit from defenseman Kurt Sauer.

Sauer caught Kastitsyn with his head down in the offensive zone and hit the Belarusian along the boards. Kastitsyn fell to the ice, then slowly got to his hands and knees. A stretcher was brought onto the ice, but Kastitsyn - his left eye swelling - got to his feet with help from medical personnel and was taken to the locker room.

Kastitsyn is reportedly waiting for doctors' conclusions about the head injury.
