Justice Ministry revokes lawsuit against Party of Communists

The Belarusian Party of Communists seems to have avoided the closure after the Ministry of Justice revoked a lawsuit against the party from the Supreme Court of Belarus. The Ministry of Justice said at its web site that the party had corrected all the violations and did not face liquidation.
In an interview with the European Radio for Belarus, party chairman Syarhey Kalyakin described this step of the government as a good sign for the Belarusian society.

“What happened today with the Party of Communists can possibly witness that we are moving towards democracy. But my optimism is very cautious. At the same time, we should greet the fact that four political prisoners have been freed. We will see what's going to happen next. Possibly, authorities are making some artificial moves in order to resolve certain issues," Kalyakin said.

The Supreme Court yesterday suspended any proceedings regarding claims from the Ministry of Justice to close down the Party of Communists.
