Invitations traded for 200 euro near Polish consulate in Hrodna

A new kind of business -- selling invitations for fictitious jobs in Poland -- has emerged in the western Belarusian city of Hrodna. The invitations are traded near the Polish Consulate in Hrodna. The invitations are priced at an average of 200 euro, according to the Hrodna blog S13.

Effective from 2007, Poland has a simplified temporary employment procedure for the citizens of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. During employment, a multiple visa is issued. Currently, it has become easier to obtain a work visa that a usual guest visa.

This has led to the situation when shuttle vendors cross the Belarus-Poland border 80-100 times within just some months, having only a work visa in their passports.
