International Monetary Fund experts start working in Minsk

A mission of technical cooperation on monetary and credit policy of the international monetary Fund will arrive in Minsk today. The National Bank has invited the experts to stay in Belarus till December 15. The mission of the IMF is expected to arrive in Minsk to conduct negotiations with representatives of the authorities and discuss the possibility of allocation of a 2-billion dollar stand-by credit to Belarus.

BelaPAN reminds that the first round of negotiations took place during the visit of an IMF mission to Minsk in October and November. It showed that Belarus had a chance of getting the credit only if it fulfilled all the demands of the International Monetary Fund. A 20% devaluation of the Belarusian rouble was among the terms.
