Igor Strelkov resigns from position of self-declared DPR Minister of Defence
Vladimir Kononov has been appointed acting PM.
"Vladimir Kononov has become acting Minister of Defence for the moment. He needs to be approved by the Supreme Council. He is a famous citizen soldier,” member of the DPR Security Council Sergei Kavtaradze told Russian Interfax.
Strelkov is alive, Kavtaradze added. “Igor Girkin (Strelkov) is alive, safe and sound and he is okay. The information about his injury is ravings. It is absolutely not true,” the member of the so-called DPR Security Council noted.
Information about Strelkov’s serious wound appeared on the website of the information agency Novorossiya on the evening of August 13. However, the DPR refuted this information. Igor Strelkov was appointed Minister of Defense on May 15, 2014. He was put in charge of the DPR armed forces four days ago.
