ХXII Winter Olympic Games to start today
They will be held in Sochi, Russia, on February 7-23.
98 sets of medals in 15 types of 7 sports will be awarded to winners. Belarus will be represented by 27 sportsmen who will compete in 5 types of sport: biathlon, freestyle, cross country ski race, alpine ski and short track speed skating. Alyaksandr Lukashenka expects the Belarusian sportsmen to be a success. The Belarusian President was invited to the opening ceremony of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi by Vladimir Putin.
A live broadcast of the opening ceremony will start on Belarus 1 at 7.10 p.m.
Extraordinary security measures have been taken in Sochi. Despite the threat militants from the North Caucuses may pose, the Russian authorities claim that the Games are absolutely safe.

freestyle — Alyaksei Hryshyn (the person who will carry the Belarusian flag), Dzmitry Dashchynski, Anton Kushnir, Dzyanis Vosipau; Ala Tsuper, Hanna Huskova, Volha Kapustsina.
cross country ski race — Syarhei Dalidovich, Alyaksandr Lazutkin, Mihail Syamyonau, Alyaksei Ivanou; Alena Sannikava, Valyantsina Kaminskaya.
alpine ski — Yury Danilachkin; Maria Shkanava.
