Hryrb: Statement of 50 aims to draw public attention to 2006 election falsifications

50 famous politicians, public and cultural figures have signed an appeal to the Office of Prosecutor General, demanding to open a criminal case over the statement by Alexander Lukashenka about the falsification of the vote results during the presidential elections in 2006.
According to Mechyslau Hryb, former speaker of the Belarusian parliament and a police general, the undersigned do not expect that anyone will face criminal prosecution. The aim of the statement is to draw attention of the public to the fact of falsification of the outcome of the presidential elections.

“I think they will produce a reply or maybe not. But it will draw attention of our public and voters so that voters know how elections are manipulated”, Hryb said.
