Greek PM Alexis Tsipras resigns

Alexis Tsipras has resigned from the position of the Greek PM. The country’s television broadcast the politician’s appeal to the people.

The ex-PM also said that the early election was appointed for September 20. He urged to vote for the Syriza party again so that the government could continue its policy.

The current Cabinet managed to reach an agreement with the creditors on reasonable terms, he noted. Athens managed to defend its interests in a number of issues, Tsipras noted.

Tsipras wants to be re-elected after the people faces the harsh results of the economy the creditors insisted on, Handelsblatt refers to Greek mass media.
