Gazprom imposes pre-payment for gas on Ukraine

Gazprom has imposed pre-payment for gas on Ukraine Neftegaz this morning, UNIAN reports. The decision has been made due to nonpayment.

Ukraine’s debt for 2013 and 2014 has reached 4 billion 458 million dollars, Russia said.

Ukraine-Russia gas negotiations were held in Kiev the other day. Russia offered gas to Ukraine at $358 for one thousand cubic metres taking the $100 discount into account. Ukraine refused from the offer as it thought that Russia could cancel the discount at any moment. Ukraine was ready to agree to the price of $268. As a result, no agreement has been reached yet.

Meanwhile, the European Union suggested a solution to Kiev-Moscow gas issue. Ukraine is ready to accept it, Russia’s reaction is unknown.
