Gaydukevich dismissed from position of a special envoy in Europe
“I have stopped working in this capacity. The foreign ministry has already abolished this position. I knew it would happen this way. The post of a special representative for the relations with European parliamentary structure lost its actuality. All the tasks for this status were fulfilled,” he said.
The European Radio for Belarus has learnt that Siargey Gaydukevich was on Thursday expected to take off to Japan still as the special envoy in European organizations. The today’s reality is that even if he travels there, he will be in a different capacity.
Several days ago, Gaydukevich said in an interview with BelGazeta that he would be pleased to hand over his duties to the foreign ministry.
“I would be very pleased. For a party leader and a lawmaker, the work that I am doing is very important in terms of my publicity. I read a lot of complaints about me and I am very glad about it. It means I have hit the nail on the head,” the politician said.
It turns out that this event can in a certain sense be described as a voluntary resignation. Next time, Gaydukevich will be more careful in his statements.
We don’t know whether his work as a special representative in Europe was efficient. However, he has taken a full use of this status as a politician. Recently, Gaydukevich has become very popular with journalists. The latter would even predict his promotion to the post of the prime minister after rumors broke about the dismissal of Sidorski. When Gaydukevich was running for the presidency, the press would give him less attention.
After Uladzimir Kanaplyou was removed from the post of the speaker of the House of Representatives, it was Gaydukevich who voiced his intention to run for the post. In respond to the question from ERB whether this statement could be the cause of his resignation, Gaydukevich laughed and said: “No comment”.
Meanwhile, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has neither confirmed nor denounced this information. They said they were still crosschecking the news.
