French firm wins tender to build a new sarcophagus over Chernobyl
The French company Novarka will design and build a new sarcophagus over the notorious Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has approved Novarka as the tender winner. The EBRD, Ukraine's Ministry for Emeregencies and the Chernobyl nuclear plant have also reached two agreements, under which Ukraine will receive almost EUR 364 million.
This money will be used to phase out the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, reports Interfax.
