For Freedom urges to ban St. George's Ribbons in public places

“The black and orange colours bring up fewer associations with the Victory Day and the victory over fascism nowadays. The ribbon is becoming a symbol of Russian imperialism more and more. It has gained a negative meaning in connection with the recent events in Ukraine – it glorifies separatism and military aggression,” BelaPAN quotes the statement.

The movement For Freedom urged the government, Minsk City Executive Committee and other local authorities to forbid the distribution and usage of the so-called St. George's Ribbons in public places.

In particular, the ribbons are being distributed in Minsk hypermarkets ProStore and Euroopt.
