Football player: How could I beat armed riot policemen?

Футбаліст: Як я мог біць байца спецназа, калі людзі з пісталетамі нападаюць?

Player of FC Ashmyany Syarhei Bulynyonak has commented on the MIA’s press release about match-fixing and his detention. The Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that a criminal match-fixing scheme had been revealed in our country, Euroradio reported on July 5. There were 6 Belarusian citizens and 1 Ukrainian in the criminal grouping. A criminal case has been started.

Player of FC Ahsmyany Syarhei Bulynyonak was beaten by policemen in disguise, mass media reported earlier.  Photos of his swollen face were published. According to the MIA, he refused to get out of his car and ‘kicked a riot policeman in the chest several times’. That is why physical force was used. The player’s actions are going to be assessed by lawyers now. Bulynyonak’s connection with the organization of match-fixing will be checked, MIA representatives said on state TV channels on the evening of July 5.

“I am shocked, I don’t know what to say...” the football player told tut.by after the press release. “How could I beat a riot policeman when armed people were attacking me? What could I do to armed policemen?” Bulynyonak has not decided how to react to the version suggested by the MIA yet.
