First Channel to show Andrzej Wajda’s film “Katyn” today

A film of Andrzej Wajda “Katyn” will be shown on the First Channel on April 18 and 23. The Belarusian Broadcasting Company has informed BelaPAN that an unscheduled broadcast will take place on Sunday – it will start at 3.30 p.m. “Katyn” is also planned to be shown at midnight on April 23. Andrzej Wajda’s film describes the events connected with the shooting of Polish officers in Katyn in 1940. The fates of four Polish officers and their relatives who do not know the truth but are guessing it are shown in the film. This is a film about women who are waiting and do not believe in death.

As it was informed earlier, the broadcasting of entertaining programmes will be limited in Belarus on April 18. It will be connected with the funeral of the Polish President Lech Kaczyński and the other people who died in the plane crash near Smolensk. Alyaksandr Lukashenka has obliged state mass media to do it. It is not recommended to broadcast entertainment programmes from 12 till 6 p.m.

The Kaczyńskis will be buried in Krakow at 6 p.m.  The official Belarusian delegation in Poland is led by the head of the Republican Council of the National Assembly Barys Batura.
