Farmacy manager steals money to feed her children

A former vet farmacy manager in the town of Liakhavichy in the Brest region have been convicted on charges of embezzlement and forgery. Investigators said that over Br1 million disappeared from the bank account, after the manager withdrew it and used for personal needs.

The woman blamed dire financial straits for her action. "Making only Br260,000 ($130) per month cannot provide for two minor children," she said. Her former husband left the family five years ago and does not provide support for them.

The woman used the stolen money to purchase transport tickets, clothing for children and food, reports ERB correspondent Ales Litouchyk.
