Euronews to start broadcasting in Arabic

Euronews started broadcasting in Arabic on Saturday. 17 Arabic-speaking journalists from Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian territories, Syria and Tunisia will work on it. Mohammed Abdel Mazim who has been working in the TV channel since its creation in 1993 will be the head of the staff.
Thus, Euronews will become a rival of Arabic channels Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya, American CNN, British BBC and French France 24 that are already broadcasting in the Arabic language.

Euronews expects to increase its potential audience by 32 million families. Its general potential audience will total 248 million families in 135 countries.
