EU declines official Minsk’s offer of economic cooperation

The European Union is worried about regular arrests of civil activists in Belarus.
According to the European Commission’s press-secretary Christiana Goman, the wave of repressions “prejudices the desire of Belarus to cooperate with the European Union”.

She claimed that the reason why the EU had declined the official Minsk’s offer of a closer economic cooperation, in particular, in the filed of energy supply transit, was the fact that the main condition for it was democratic changes in Belarus.

The press-secretary of the European Commission stressed that the European Union would not allow the authoritarian Belarusian government to choose spheres of cooperation.
