Emergency Control Ministry demolishes 20-metre water tower in Vaukavysk
A 20-metre water tower has been blown up in Vaukavysk. The operation was conducted by the Emergency Control Ministry.
It was the beginning of a whole programme of liquidation of abandoned buildings in Hrodna Region. The tower was situated 10 metres away from a gas-pipe so it was a problem for rescuers who had to work out the direction of the explosion carefully.
According to the ONT channel, the explosion of the building cost the town authorities 80% less that it could have if the building had been dismantled with the help of special technical equipment.
