Embassy of Poland introduces biometric visas

Biometric visas will be issued by the Polish Embassy in Belarus beginning from 29 January 2015. This was announced by the press secretary of the Polish Embassy, Anna Derska, BELTA reports.

Under the new rules, to obtain a Schengen visa a person will need to be fingerprinted. Ms Derska explained that it will not be necessary to be fingerprinted every time they apply for a visa. It will have to be done once in 59 months.

With the introduction of biometric visas, those wishing to obtain a Schengen visa will have to appear in person at the embassy, even if the documents are submitted through a travel agency.

Only children under the age of 12 will not be fingerprinted.
