EHU budget deficit $1 million

The recently elected Rector of the European Humanities University, David Pollick, held a press conference in Vilnius on April 16. According to him, in the near future the EHU curriculum will be seriously revised. Incidentally, Pollick is going to focus on the core mission of the university as a Belarusian and European university. At the same time he does not see the need to recruit instructors who were dismissed from the EHU last year. Earlier, there was a conflict at the EHU between the Senate and the administration, in which several instructors were dismissed. Among them were Maxim Zhbankou, Pavel Tserashkovich, Volha Shparaga.

Pollick confirmed at the press conference that before he joined the European Humanities University, its budget deficit amounted to a million dollars, and it still remains this way. According to the Rector, the problem came up because of the difficulties that the EHU faced due to the forced relocation in 2004 from Minsk to Vilnius.

David Pollick previously headed several private colleges in the United States, he is  a professor of philosophy. He was an Acting President of the State University of New York (SUNY, Cortland office) served as president and CEO of the Chicago Institute of Art, Acting Rector of the EHU. He is currently studying Russian, but speaks no Belarusian.
