Dzyanіs Dzyanіsau: I have returned some money. The rest will be collected from my scholarship
ERB has managed to get in contact with the 28-year-old Dzyanis Dzyanisau who is studying in Poland now. Let us remind you that a scandal connected with the disappeared money used to pay off Dzyanisau out of pawn started in the web. People from all over Belarus collected the money to release him from prison. The young man promised to return the money back (about 7500 USD) but he has not returned it to everybody. It was announced that some strangers attacked him and took the money away. ERB has already informed about this story.
Dzyanisau tried to explain the incident and other details of the case by phone. He said that the information that appeared in mass media was mostly distorted. He regrets that nobody contacted him immediately and that he got to know about the scandal only two days after it had started.
He managed to give back the biggest part of the money.
Dzyanisau claims that the money appeared in summer (the criminal case against him was closed at the end of May). He received it in Minsk – 15.5 million BRB.
“I started giving it back part by part when it appeared. According to him, he returned the money to organizations and private persons. Nobody refused it.
According to Dzyanisau, he got the list of donors only on July 20 (in spite of the fact that he had asked for it in spring). Then the fight during which his money was stolen took place. However, Dzyanisau had managed to give most of it back.
About the way the money was stolen
Dzyanisau claims that he lost the money in a fight not far from the “Uskhod” underground station. It happened in July.
“There were three of them and one more man was standing nearby. – says Dzyanisau. – They paid attention to me because I had a badge “Free Belarus” on my sleeve… Those were regular guys, they were drunk… I am not a girl and I get into fights of the kind quite often in Minsk. But they were stronger that time”.
According to Dzyanisau, the guys took away his money, the last part he was going to return to donors. There was more then 2 million BRB. Dzyanis Dzyanisau did not inform the police about it although he says there were witnesses of the incident.
Now he keeps collecting money with the help of his scholarship.
“I have never said I will not return the money”, - says Dzyanisau. He is going to do it like that: “I get a scholarship and I am collecting this money to return it soon. I am not going to do it with the help of Zhanna Yamaikina (the initiator of the collection of money to free him - ERB) because I have a list of donors now. So I will be doing it in person”.
Dzyanisau has gone through “a soul-searching”.
“I do not want it to cause any stir, - says Dzyanisau, - The least I would like to see is somebody writing about me. You have probably noticed that I has not appeared anywhere after I had been released. I have gone through some soul-searching. It does not mean that I have given up. But I have lost some of my ambitions…”
He says he got disappointed in most of his friends. “People who say one thing to you and those who stab you in the back have been revealed”, - says Dzyanisau. That’s the only thing that makes him happy”.
He also admitted that he was “encountering some adventures all the time” and that “he got tired of trying to justify himself”.
