Documentary tells new truth about Khatyn tragedy

The Truth of Khatyn, a 35-minute documentary film, was on Tuesday premiered in Minsk. It narrates about the tragedy of the village of Khatyn in the Lahoiski district of Belarus which was burnt down together with local residents on March 22, 1943. The film runs against the official version which says that Khatyn was burnt dowb by the Nazi, Belapan quotes historial Ihar Kuzniatsou, a consultant for the film, as saying.

The Truth of Khatyn brings evidence that the village was burnt by a Ukraininan police battalion. Kuzniatsou stresses that collaborators committed a much graver crime than they were ordered by the Nazi.

The Belarusian documentary film is expected to be screened at international festivals and on foreign television networks.
