“Dazhynki” starts in Rechytsa
A peasants’ festival “Dazhynki-2007” has started in Rechytsa today, on September 21. Festive actions started with a procession of columns of winners of the republican competition in the central street of the district centre.
Heads of the Regional and District Executive Committees made their speeches. A tournament and a beer festival are also planned for today.
Belarusian creative collectives including Mihail Finberg’s National Orchestra of Belarus will perform for the present at the central square today.
Sports competitions will start with the Belarusian Football Cup Final among village teams “Golden Spike”.
Folklife amateurs will be able to visit the exposition “Town of Masters” where manufactured articles from straw, birch bark, clay and wood will be demonstrated.
Runners-up (second and third places) of the Republican competition will be awarded with expensive presents (home theatres, PCs, DVD-players, office equipment and money awards) on September 21.
The Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka will give the winners of the competition keys of “VAZ” cars on September 22. Those who win for the second time will receive money awards of about 9 million BRB.
