Customs Code of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia to be considered in November

Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia are to approve their common Customs Code in Minsk on November 27, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov.

The three countries are working to form a customs union and the Customs Code will be approved in the framework of a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Community’s Interstate Council.

He reportedly stressed that the countries were still considering joining the World Trade Organization as a group.
Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia continue talks on their WTO entry bid both on behalf of the customs union and on the national level, according to the Russian official. “There is an agreement that the issue of the distribution of import duties and the collection of customs tariffs should be agreed upon in general before April 1, 2010,” Shuvalov was quoted as saying.

The three countries are currently holding talks on the distribution and collection of customs duties within the customs union, he said.
